Free friday - wooden blocks DIY

I own a ton of those wooden block for kids. Somehow I just have to buy them every time I come across a set in a thrift store or vintage market.

But what to do with all that geometric wood? I found some inspiration on the web and think I will turn mine into a mobile for the nursery, a nice project for the weekend!

1. I prepped the blocks by drilling holes in them
2. DIY- town by Beci Orpin for Etsy's How-Tuesday
3. DIY geometric blocks by Abbey Hendrickson for Etsy's How-Tuesday
4. DIY wall hooks by Snug

-----------

On the way...

Slowly I'm starting to show... and can I tell you I find it such a strange experience to see my belly popping more forward (I occasionally try if I can still draw it in, as a test, but no... the little bump won't have it)? I keep thinking: is this my body or am I just imagining a baby living inside who also grows and will 'work' later on? And what about family and friends who want to feel my belly and look at it like I'm an oven with a yummy cake baking inside.
But I have to say, and I hope you will forgive me for my 'pink-cloud-pregnant-talk: I like it a lot. It really feels special. :-)

I made cards to track the progress, one photo every week, like the one on the left. If you'd like to do the same, you can download my printable week cards here.

By the way: I'm now 14 weeks and due on december 23th (shall I start looking for a stable and three wise men from the east?)

-----------

Card and inspiration

At the Etsy craft party last week I met Eliane, the owner of Etsy shop Roest. I came across one of her crochet projects on Pinterest... she made a garland inspired by the colors of one of my postcards! I'm totally charmed by this great idea and wanted to share this with you guys!

Childhood

Now that I'm expecting a little one of my own, looking back at my childhood is a whole different experience. Me and M are fantasizing about how creative our kid might be (M's originally a graphic designer).
I found these two photo's of myself painting and also remember how much fun I had finger painting and making 'bread dough characters' with my mum.
Hope I can pass this forward to our kid (if he/ she likes it of course)!

------------

M's parents took us to Bruges for the weekend to celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary with the family! A photo impression of this beautiful town...

Free friday - veggie garden update

All of a sudden it's summer and the vegetables and flowers smell freedom! The neighborhood birds feel free to nick our (unripe) cherries and berries. All together, our garden is coming to life. Sometimes a bit too quick... the spinach shoot strait into flowers (maybe choose a less sunny spot for these fellas?).

I hope the weather is just as nice where you are. Have a lovely weekend!

----------

Fijne weekend!

Inspiration - Darling Clementine

Have you met Darling Clementine? These girls from Norway make the most beautiful stationary and illustrations. They also designed the cover of Uppercase Magazine issue 17.
I'm thinking about developing my own stationary line and this artwork is highly inspirational don't you think?

----------

Social Media - Instagram

Me and social media... I'm not sure we're always a good match. But lately I feel drawn towards it again (you might have noticed that I made a facebook page) and last week I thought: 'oh why not, let's give Instagram a go'. So far I must say: I'm having fun! Go and see for yourself at kimslittlemonsters.

How do you find social media and what works best for you?

----------
